March 21, 2017 Meeting Minutes

Guest Speaker, Tia Clasen, Director of Literacy for Richfield Public Schools: Tia presented a lot of valuable information on current and future literacy curriculum in our district generally, and for RDLS specificially. Of particular note, she mentioned efforts to implement assessments of our students' Spanish literacy in grades 4, 7 and 10 and moving to testing our students in Spanish for math until winter of 3rd grade.

Plans for statue unveiling with Richfield Friendship City Commission: RDLS students who are available will sing the school song and present some student made cards. This event will be held the last week in June. Host families for the group of visitors from our sisiter city in Costa Rica are still being sought. End of year picnic will include a 10 year celebration. Alumni and their families will be invited as well as Luis Versalles, the school's first principal.

Bracelets to raise money for Rissy Schaefer's cancer treatment will be sold an upcoming mornng in the cafeteria. Details will be on facebook and shared through a blackboard message once the date is determined.

Voted in favor of contributing $100 for district's end of year staff recognition dinner.

Read A Thon made $2128. Happy Hour numbers are not yet finalized
