PTSO Meeting Minutes - October 25, 2016

* Sra. Marta presented information regarding our Focus School Status and efforts to reduce the acheivement gap in our student's MCA performance.

* Nov. 18 will be the next Family Fun Night. It will be a STEM themed evening with 6-8 stations of interactive science experiements.

NOTE: All Family Fun nights require students to attend with an adult - they are not drop off events.

* Fundraising Update:

Chip Shoppe receipts total $13,500, not including online orders; Final data on school proceeds are not yet available

Last Family Fun NIght raised approx. $700

Carly Kidd, PTSO President, is working on preparing two grant applications which should help fund our new playground. Grants are due on Nov. 14th.

* Funding Requests: $250 was requested to pay for a performance of the Nutcracker to come to RDLS. Unanimously approved. Was suggested we could have a donation box available if parents would like to help pay for this event and

attend themselves.

PTSO has offerred to provide some funds to allow 5th graders to create some sort of memorial in remembrance of the Ronquillo chidren. Amount will be discussed when students present their ideas.

*Amity Update

Host families are needed for next year's Amities. If you or someone you know would like to host, please contact Stepanie Spencer at speste@gmail.com

-Hosts families do not need to have RDLS students; anyone can host if they can provide a private bedroom and 3 meals a day. Spread the word!

Stephanie Spencer and Amity Ricardo will be presenting to The Richfield Rotary about the Amity program in hopes of starting a relationship that could lead to more host families.

*Treasurer Update: Erika Garcia, our current Treasurer, is working on creating a formal PTSO budget

Next Meeting: Nov. 15th at 6 pm. Mike Wallace, district math guru, will be presenting information on what's new in math instruction and how we can support our children's math learning at home.
